If even the NDR reports about our community with about 4,300 inhabitants in the far north, there must be something behind it. In our case, a good idea that has what it takes to become a lighthouse project:
In Sörup, the local energy producers and the municipality have joined forces to ensure that the energy produced locally can also be used locally. The "Sörup municipal works" founded for this purpose acts as a virtual power plant, which buys back the electricity generated here from a large biogas plant and a total of 3 community wind farms from the electricity exchange and forwards it directly to its local and regional customers.
An idea that not only works ecologically and economically, but also makes Sörup a showcase project for many other communities in Germany.
