Price development 2023

The billing of our household and commercial customer product depends on the price development on the short-term exchange EPEX-Spot in Paris.

Basically, the short-term energy prices of the EPEX-Spot are below the long-term price hedges, since there are lower risk premiums here. A price hedging in 2021/2022 for the future would have led to very high energy prices. The spot market prices are also currently at a high level (see the following illustration), but linking energy prices to this development also makes it possible to take cheaper short-term prices with you in 2023.

Below we present the current development of energy prices for the year 2023 based on the EPEX spot prices for household customers:

Looking back, we have you the development as well as the current average price (***as of June 6th, 2023) in relation to the valid market price ( electricity purchase price ) as of December 2022.

The pure energy price is only one component of the total electricity costs. Other components are taxes and levies as well as network charges and costs for meter operation.
